What to put on an electrician invoice
- The word “Invoice” and a unique invoice number, so you and the customer can find it later.
- Invoice date and due date.
- Your business name, contact details and license number.
- Customer name and the job address.
- Itemized work actually done, including any approved changes, plus materials and permit fees.
- Tax, the total, any deposit already paid, and the balance due. Use the “Already paid” box in the tool to subtract the deposit.
- How to pay you: bank transfer details, card payment link, or other methods you accept.
Payment terms that get you paid faster
- Short due dates. “Due on receipt” or 7 days works well for homeowners; businesses often expect 14 or 30 days.
- Make paying easy. The more ways a customer can pay, the sooner they do.
- Invoice the same day the job is finished, while the customer is happy with the work.
- State late fees clearly if you charge them, and check what is allowed where you work.
Turn your estimate into an invoice
If you made an estimate or quote with this tool on the same device, your work lines are still here. Update anything that changed on the job, enter the deposit under “Already paid”, and download the invoice.
Keep good records
Save a copy of every invoice you send. Numbering them in order (INV-1001, INV-1002 and so on) makes it simple to see who has paid and to hand your records to an accountant at tax time.
